Tidal vs qobuz reddit12/24/2023 ![]() Better recordings and better headphones, even spatial audio is a much more noticeable change (although mostly worse at the moment). Other features are way, way, way more impactful and even other elements of the audio chain will dwarf the tiny difference. Also if you have to audibly squint to hear the difference, it’s not a feature. It’s not valuable given that the majority of people listen to music on their phone (Bluetooth, cheap wired, airplay etc). The reason I don’t say to me is because for the vast majority of people who aren’t using obscenely expensive headphones, DACs and AMPs they won’t hear. To be clear I’m not saying there isn’t an objective difference, there is and it’s easily measurable. Ive done ABX tests and even had my friends try, couldn’t hear.įunnily enough Tidal had their own AB test and so many people couldn’t hear the difference they pulled the site. Give it a few days and see what you think of the recommendations. I'd say grab the trial and see how you feel, use Soundiiz to transfer everything over (they have a platform to platform feature that transfers over artists, playlists, tracks in one click). Playlists aren't as good, the ones that are there are actually very similar it's just that Spotify has a ridiculous number so it'll depend on what genres you listen to the most. When listening to a track hit it and it will create a list of tracks from your library that are similar and tracks you haven't heard and you can just tap to add to the queue. ![]() They have daily mixes just like Spotify and one feature that is much better than any platform is the musical note button. They have a daily discovery mix, 50% of the tracks get added to my library (higher than Spotify for me). In terms of the algorithm, as long as you are liking tracks its pretty fantastic. One thing that is noticeable is the album artwork is not compressed and looks much nicer. The sound difference is not noticeable, even with an external DAC etc. So you have to go and "listen" to music by yourself. But I fell in love with the sound and atmosphere of DALI. My dali speakers, the ones I eventually bought, well, they thrive on jazz music (vocals included) but KEF speakers of the same price range were far better on rock music to my ears. When I were about to buy my setup, I had an appointment and I went to a special shop and I listened to my music using different setups. For instance, I have a pair of Dali Speakers. ![]() If you 're really into this, you should make an appointment and go and listen to some systems, speakers etc. But this is the case that tidal actually shines.ĭon't get me wrong, I cannot recommend any hifi systems because any suggestions would heavily rely on your budget/music preferences etc. You build a hifi system combining of speakers, an amplifier, a digital/analog input etc. They may start from 500 euros to 50000 (no typo on zeros!). You have to do your research on the topic. One example of this, is AAC increases noise in the audio, even if the source file is AAC, so theoretically having the highest-quality source audio means the least noise overall because it won't be adding noise onto the already possibly noisy, lossy audio. If implemented correctly, it just passes on the compressed audio and all is good, but not everything uses AAC compression, and sometimes the AAC implementation is bad (*cough* android *cough*). What I was trying to get across though, is with AAC, for example, depending on its implementation and the source audio can re-compress already lossy audio, which can make a difference. "Having compressed source audio means that AAC doesn't re-encode the already compressed audio".īasically, I didn't know how I would word it, so I just simplified FLAC to uncompressed because it sounds the same as an uncompressed file, so I didn't think the distinction had to be made. Well, yeah, I know FLAC is compressed, I just didn't call it that because I didn't want my comment to be confusing. ![]()
